AC Schnitzer is preparing to close after 39 years in business. The German company confirmed operations will stop at the end of 2026, with management pointing toward increasing development expenses, supplier uncertainty, and a difficult approval process.
For BMW fans, the timing feels strange. AC Schnitzer spent decades tied closely to the brand through road-car upgrades and racing programs, especially during the E30 M3 years in DTM. At one stage, BMW dealers even sold the tuner’s components directly through franchise locations.
Now the company is finishing things with a large package for the latest BMW M5.

The program covers both body styles, the G90 Sedan and G99 Touring. AC Schnitzer reworked the exterior, suspension, wheels, interior details, and drivetrain. There is no dramatic styling shift here. The appearance changes stay measured, almost conservative in places.
Under the hood, the modified setup reaches 810 metric horsepower. AC Schnitzer also lists 596 kW and 799 horsepower. Torque rises to 1,100 Nm, equal to 811 pound-feet. The upgrade needs 98-octane fuel minimum.

Price for the engine package stands at €7,990, or $9,345. Stainless-steel mufflers, carbon-fiber tailpipes, a silencer, and warranty coverage are included. Buyers wanting the silencer separately must spend another €4,690, listed beside a $5,485 conversion.
The standard BMW M5 already produces heavy figures on its own. BMW rates the electrified 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 at 717 horsepower, 727 ps, and 535 kW. Torque reaches 738 pound-feet, or 1,000 Nm. Factory data shows 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, matching the 0-97 kph result.
Yet the latest car trails the previous M5 by 0.3 seconds. Compared with the M5 CS, the difference reaches half a second.
AC Schnitzer also lowered the ride height through revised springs. Front reduction measures between 20 and 25 mm. Rear changes vary from 10 to 15 mm. The suspension kit costs €619, equivalent to $724.
Wheel prices depend on specification. Buyers choose between packages costing €7,590, €7,790, or €8,390. Lug nuts add €94. Wheel spacers cost €298. The wheel-cover bolt kit carries an €83 price.

Body components include a €1,890.01 front splitter set, €890 side skirts, and a rear diffuser priced at €790.01. Sedan models receive a trunk spoiler, while Touring owners get a roof wing. Each piece costs €540.
Additional items include grille inserts, side wings, fender attachments, protective skirts, black logos, aluminum pedals, and an aftermarket key holder.
AC Schnitzer stated warranty support will continue after the shutdown. Discussions with a buyer are already underway, so the company name itself may survive beyond 2026.
