MANHART Gives the BMW XM 900 PS. And Somehow Makes It Even More Extravagant

The BMW XM has never been a particularly discreet SUV. It’s enormous, heavy, unusually styled and already produces enough power to embarrass plenty of sports cars.

Apparently, that wasn’t quite enough for MANHART.

The German tuner has introduced the MHXM 900 Dubai Limited Edition, a special version of BMW’s plug-in hybrid SUV developed for customers who want something even more exclusive.

Only ten examples will be built.

And while the standard XM Label develops 748 PS, MANHART has pushed the combined output to 900 PS and 1,200 Nm of torque.

That’s a substantial increase for a vehicle that was hardly struggling with performance in the first place.

The mechanical changes centre on MANHART’s MHtronik Powerbox, which modifies the output of the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and electric motor combination.

An Akrapovič titanium exhaust system is also available, with an optional wireless control kit.

But the engine isn’t necessarily the most unusual part of this particular BMW.

MANHART has given the Dubai edition a completely different appearance from its usual black-and-gold creations. The bodywork is finished in porcelain white, accompanied by champagne-coloured graphics inspired by traditional clothing worn in the Emirates.

It’s an interesting choice for a tuner normally associated with darker, more aggressive colour schemes. The lighter finish doesn’t make the XM look smaller, of course.

BMW’s controversial front end and enormous proportions are still there. MANHART has simply decided to celebrate them rather than attempt to disguise them.

The exterior package also includes additional styling details, while the cabin receives individual finishing touches intended to distinguish the limited edition from an ordinary XM Label.

Each vehicle carries its own production number.

The example shown in MANHART’s official photographs is number three of ten, which gives some idea of how limited this particular project will be.

The timing isn’t accidental, either.

MANHART is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, and the Dubai edition forms part of that milestone.

Whether an SUV with 900 PS makes much sense is another question.

The standard XM Label already delivers extraordinary straight-line performance while carrying a sizeable battery, an electric motor and all the equipment expected from a luxury BMW.

Adding another 152 PS won’t suddenly turn it into a lightweight sports car.

But that’s probably missing the point.

The MHXM 900 Dubai Limited Edition isn’t trying to be the most sensible performance SUV available. It’s aimed at customers who want the already extravagant XM to feel genuinely rare.

And with just ten examples planned, at least that part of the promise is easy to believe.
