Yet Another Lightweight Performance Build - BMW M2 Convertible

This is one of the perfect examples of what Tuning can do to an older car, and how the power output of a stock engine can be enhanced with the right people. They will work around any problem they will encounter on their way to the desired power they want to get out of the car and indefinitely they will reach more than expected and the releases to market are what fans are waiting for.

The famous tuning shop Lightweight Performance revealed their latest project. A BMW M2 Convertible was commissioned by a customer years ago, however, it has since been refined. Due to new upgrades, the custom BMW M2 Convertible is currently even quicker than the future BMW M2 CS.

AutoBild has recently taken the Lightweight BMW M2 Convertible to Sachsenring and recorded a lap time of 1:34.15 minutes. That’s slightly quicker than the supposed time of the M2 CS  – 1:34.98 minutes.

The outstanding lap time is made doable by a conversion that started with a regular BMW 2 Series Convertible. The engine, transmission, axles, and brakes were taken from the M2. The base engine is the 370-hp N55 engine of the initial M2, but, of course, with some additional oomph. The power unit currently makes 428 horsepower.

Naturally, longitudinal dynamics are key to the success over the stronger and lighter M2 CS. therefore the Lightweight Performance M2 was upgraded with a Bilstein Clubsport Coilover and lots of carbon fiber. For instance, the bonnet, front spoiler, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, and plenty of different details are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

There is also a wheel upgrade, 20-inch models within the front, and 21-inch with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 within the rear.

The famous Convertible is going to beat even its future alter-ego, The BMW M2 CS in any way possible being extremely carefully tuned and modified to hold onto its power for ages and to make a lot noise on the track as well as achieved the claimed speeds.

The BMW fan-base will like every stock model as it is, but you can’t hate on such a monster while knowing its way faster and even more stable than the starting car for the project.
